up.to.date

so as all of you have noticed.. I have not been doing very much blogging lately.. sorry about that. I really need to gain back my reputation as a blogger! Just a quick update about me and my life to this day.. I have started to get really really exited about Christmas recently.. yeah. I am pretty stoked. Only.. oh my days... only 96 sleeps 8 hours and 41 minutes left! I am also getting SO excited for our church's youth conference Consumed! (www.consumedconference.ca) It's going to be so amazing =) ALSO.. my blood is at a very healthy state right now. Yesterday I got my Tetnis booster shot along with 2 other things mixed in there. I was sooo nervous about getting it.. I hate shots.. ew. I hate them. Anyway.. school is going fabulously. I love just getting back in the swing of things, although if I could, I would minimize the time spent with those dumb boys ;) Other than that life is pretty fine. Got back from camp a couple of weeks ago.. it was so amazing. God did such phenomenal things in the lives of all the youth there, and it was amazing to see him working in them. He stretched me, challenged me, and I'm so happy he did!

I love how the weather is getting colder and the days are getting shorter. I absolutely love waking up and it is dark and raining. I just love fall.. and winter. Oh I cannot wait until it snows! It wont be too long.. and we'll have a snowday. Oh yeah.. one drawback from being in the new school.. less snowdays! (Although we only had 1 last year in Merville, we still had better chances of missing out on the wonderful thing we call school) I should be getting back to the world of facebook! hopefully talk to you soon!

well.. it definatley has been a while. Last nights service was AMAZING. We (our church) had Faytene Kriskow come to speak yesterday, and she is phenomenal. She got our whole church pumped up for the CRY (check it out at www.thecry.ca) which I am not going to miss. I am super excited on life!

Recent News

OUR SCHOOL FINALLY MOVED! On Friday we packed up, and on Monday we started school at what used to be Comox Elementary School. It's such an amazing blessing that we are in town and have a lot more space than we used to have. It was awesome how fast it happened too. I think we found out a week? before we moved that we could move. It's so awesome!

Yesterday our cousins, aunt and uncle came over and they are going to stay at our house this weekend for my Grandma's birthday! It's today and she is officially considered a senior citizen. I love my Grandma. She is so phenomenal, and an amazing cook. I could go on and on about how much I love her and everything she does for me and our family. She got this musical card for mother's day from our cousins and the song went like this, "Grandma is kisses, Grandma is kind, when I act silly, she doesn't mind. Grandma is love, Grandma is hugs, she makes me smile bright as the sun...being with her is my favourite treat" or something along those lines. I can't really remember all the words, but that song kind of summarizes a section of what my Grandma is, except she is SO much more than what is written/sung in the card. She is an awesome example of a woman with a heart that is so dedicated to God and serving him. She is a grandma to everyone in the church if you know her well or not! I just love her! I remember when I was younger, she would get Papa to be the one who gave us most of the candy, because she was "Good Food Grandma" ahahahaha it makes me laugh :D

I can't believe that it is already JUNE! Seriously, it seems like yesterday we were just arriving at Homewood for the youth retreat in January! Wowzers! Anyway.. in 2 months minus one day it will be my 14th birthday! WOO! I am so stoked for summer. One of the things I love about summer, is that you can stay up really late, and it doesn't matter if you wake up at noon the next day. Another thing is that every night you can be scheming for a sleepover, instead of just the two given days on the weekend. There's also, camp, camping, birthday, youth events, vacation, no homework, it's hot. Oh my gosh! I just love summer!

Another amazing thing I could not, not blog about is MY FUTURE NEICE OR NEPHEW IS ON THE WAY!! I couldn't be more happy for my older "brother and sister" Jason and Kelsey. All day today and last night I have been thinking about it and I can't even believe it. I have been waiting years for the next 9 months. Congratulations Jason and Kelsey, I love you guys!

It wasn't as scary as I thought it might have been, and it was SO fun! Eh.. I don't really want to fill you all in on the details right now.. but will later
:P

Right now I am waiting for my Dad and Mom to get back from Portland!!

Oh Happy Day, Happy Day!

Today I got to sleep in, yay for Saturdays! Once I woke up, I went and I looked at some old photo albums and went for a stroll down memory lane. I love doing that. Then I went and I had some Shreddies. MMMMM! Then once I was done breakfast, I went and did a little homework. I just was playing around with Emerson's camera, and was about to take a picture of my Papa sleeping, when Hudson blurted out, "Are you allowed to be using that?" I am, by the way.. just to make that clear. And suddenly my Papa woke up.. fantastic. I quickly bolted behind a wall. ooooh. oh never mind. He is nodding. I was thinking about running upstairs to grab the camera agin. but I wont'.. not right now anyways. This afternoon I don't really have any plans unless Mik calls me and asks me to do something (we were talking about this earlier) tonight is CHURCH! I absolutely LOVE having a night service. I don't know why.. I think it is just the fact that I can go to church without thinking about waking up early the next morning to go to school. Tomorrow I can go on FACEBOOK!! I haven't been on facebook in 6 days. I am so proud of myself. It was definatly a challenge. I started fasting it last Sunday, because I felt that God was telling me that I was going on it WAY too much and wasn't spending enough time with him. And tomorrow I am going to set some standards for facebook so that I do get the time I need with God. I really want to make God a higher priority than facebook. I gotta jet (hahah Mik, "You bought a jet???") As Tiger says, TTFN! (Ta Ta For Now!)

SPRING IS HERE!

Well.. spring is defiantly here! It is currently 8:44 and it is still light out!! We have kind of past the "rain stage" of spring and are now moving into the warmer weather. I am stoked. This afternoon I just spent some time reading on my grandparents deck in the sun on a bench/swing. It was glorious. I might even be able to do that when I go back there if it isn't too cold. I can't wait!! The summer schedule is up on the church's website! www.ngate.ca I can't wait til June.. and July.. and MOST OF ALL... AUGUST! The month of my birth. wooooo! I can't wait. Fun Fun FUn. that's basically summer all SUMMed up lol. I love summer! No homework... no school.. campfires.. camping... vacation.. birthday... youth practically EVERY night! Yeah. That's how I am doing. :D

update

Just an update on what has been going on lately.. well.. this week we have been staying at our grandparents house because our parents are at the leaders conference at CITY BIBLE CHURCH!! Oooh. I gotta go.. will talk more later.

Universe

Lately we have been taking a break in science and talking about the flaws and cons of evolution. We have also been learning a lot about creationism too. One thing that I found ABSOLUTELY amazing.. was one point that Dr. Hovind said in a video was.. Universe: One-verse (sentence) "Let there be." If you are an evolustionist this should change your beliefs automatically! It is so straight forward. I love it.. 13 days until I am in the Disneyland park people!! I am so excited. I can't wait for all of my dreams to come true even more than they already have.. (I have heard that happens in Disneyland :D) This will be my 3rd time going.. but the first time I went I was 4.. and the second time I went I only went for a day. So basically... this is going to be my first REAL DEAL Disneyland visit. I will actually be able to experience it to the fullest and remember it all :D I should go I have to have dinner!

Laminin

OK. I have no idea why my writing is underlined.. ok but whatever. So. This is a picture of laminin. So you are all thinking right now "Ok Mercedes... cool?" I AM getting to the point! A few months ago I watched a sermon on video by Louis Giglio in class and at youth. This guy had my attention the whole way through this sermon! He brought up AMAZING facts that glorified God SO much. It made God look REALLY big.. the way he really is. I really suggest that you take a look at it. It's called "How great is our God" by Louis Giglio. Ok.. so you are still probably wondering.. "Ok.. so what's laminin?" AH! This is so cool. I love it. So what you see above is a picture of laminin. In the sermon Mr. Giglio goes off about how he really needed a big finish for his sermon. So he started talking about how he had talked to a scientific person who I don't really know the title of! And he told Mr. Giglio about laminin. He started saying how laminin was what held our bodies together, like the wire or metal pipe or whatever you use in a cement structure. ISN'T THAT AMAZING?! Our whole lives (not to mention all the billions of people who have lived and died before us) we have been held together with millions and millions of little CROSSES?! I think that is just TOO COOL!! Oh I love it. Salvation message right here! hahaha so yeah.. I really think you should check out that video.

Barbie

Ok. So I was really bored and I didn't have anything too too exciting to blog about. So here goes. I was looking for random words (well actually one word in particular, but I couldn't find it..barbindignageeous) and so I shortened that and looked up barbie Here is what I got:

Oh crap. It actually worked... ok nevermind... but the FIRST (lol) deffinition that I got was something along these lines:

Main Entry: barbiePart of Speech: nDefinition: barbecueEtymology: from barbe(cue)Usage: Australian slang

This one made more sense.

Bar⋅bie

[bahr-bee] Show IPA
1.Trademark. a brand of doll representing a slim, shapely young woman, esp. one with blond hair, blue eyes, and fair skin.
–noun
2.Also called Barbie doll. a person, esp. a young woman, perceived as blandly attractive and vacuous.

SO.. UGH I CAN'T STOP WRITING LIKE THIS... barbie is actually an australian word for barbecue. so when little girls are going on to their girlfriends "Let's play Barbie's! Let's play Barbie's!" They might as well be saying.. "Let's fire up the barbie eh mate?"

Hope I expanded your thinking about Barbie, and gave you a clearer understanding.

average

Well.. today was pretty good I guess. ahaha. Except for the fact that it is Thursday and my schedule goes something like this... Science, Socials, French, Socials, Science. Sounds pretty FANTASTIC eh? UGH. I am just happy that tomorrow is Friday and I am going to see Carol Cartwright!! I am so stoked. I haven't seen this amazing woman of God in years. I call her Mama Carol. She is amazing. I happened to be at one of her services when I was baptized in the Holy Spirit.. and I was very young, I knew it was important, but now, I REALLY know it is so important and relevant in my life. Me and Zandra are going down to Nanaimo (With Mrs. Millar of course!) to go to the women's conference at Maranatha church. It's going to be fantastic. Carol Cartwright is going to be there! OH MY GOSH! I am so excited!! Another reason that I am so excited is that next Friday is a Pro-D day! WHOOP WHOOP! I am pretty stoked on life.

OOPS!

Just in case any of you who read this actually take my advice and are wanting to go to the Easter Egg Scramble tomorrow, MY BAD it's not at Vanier it is at Comox Elementary. It was at Vanier LAST year. lol so hope to see you there!!

Good Friday

Well. Today is Good Friday. I went to the service at Mark Isfeld as usual, except this year it seemed to fly by way faster than previous years, when I would count down the minutes. Tonight to, I don't want to say "celebrate" but remember, I am watching the Passion of The Christ for the first time. We watched the first hour or so at school yesterday before it got to any of the brutal parts. And so far, it's pretty good. Accompanying me is Emerson and Mik. Alexandra was going to join us, but ended up having plans tonight :( So... tomorrow is the Easter Egg Scramble at the Vanier track at 10:00am. Sadly though, this year I can't participate... but maybe (since I have connections) I might be able to scramble with the rest of the kids :D Well... I guess thats all...

Asta la vista!!

(BY THE WAY. What does asta la vista even mean???)

Happy Birthday Mom

Today is my amazing mother's birthday (her age will remain un-announced :P) I love her so much and I love having her to look up to. She sets an amazing example for me in her relationship with God, the way she interacts with people, and in the contents of her closet!

Mom,
You're amazing. I can't say anything more or less.. well actually I AM going to say more lol. You are always there to talk about things that I can't talk with Dad about JUST KIDDING! (Dad, you know I am JUST KIDDING!) But you are always there, and I love having you there to open up to whenever I am going through whatever teenage girls go through these days. You were always there to do my ponytail, paint my nails and pick out my clothes, and now you are always there to feed me, make me laugh, encourage me with my walk with God, and just be an amazing mother!

Some amazing qualities about my amazing mother...
  • She has GREAT taste!
  • She is an amazing singer
  • She makes me laugh
  • She loves snow, and prays for snow days with us!!
  • She always always always encourages me in everything that I am doing
  • She is a wonderful chef
  • She is great with maid service :D
  • She teaches me and my brothers how to work
  • She loves me and the rest of our family

tomorrow is the day. we finally hop in the vans and get on our way down to Mexico! I am so excited!!! I still need to pack... oh dear... I should probably finish that soon. I probably wont be able to blog for the next 2-ish weeks, so to all my fans out there... adios! Pray for us! It's going to be amazing!!!

Saturday, March 7, 2009

Guess what? I am officially the first person to follow Miranda's blog! So if you wanted to be the first one... well to bad. You can check out her blog at <www.mirandadonovan.blogspot.com> So anyways, my day has been going pretty good so far. Last night the school had the 30 hour famine, and I participated in that. It was great, we played a bunch of games, had a photo scavenger hunt, went bowling, and sang worship songs and had time with God. OH MY GOODNESS! If you have never had the privilege of participating in a CVCS 30 hour famine, you would have never been able to taste the most fantastic bread ever! Mrs. Tansky was working all day yesterday, and boy did it pay off! It was so light and fluffy, and paired with the hamburger soup that the grade 10's made... mmm! Bon a'petite!

Long Time No Talk

Well.. I have been kind of well slacking in the blogging world. Sorry guys :D Well tonight is youth and I am super stoked! It's going to be awesome. Oh my goodness I am SO excited for Mexico! WE are leaving in eight days (I FOR SURE am counting) Keep that in your prayers, for the changes that will happen in Mexico, and for the team that we continue to build relationships with each other and that we are safe the whole way there, and the whole way back. I finally have my blog figured out! It's been a few weeks kind of 'under construction,' because I didn't really know what I wanted, and kept switching back and forth. And now my header works too. Until next time!

YAY!

WOO HOO! MEXICO IS IN 10 DAYS!!!

Happy Birthday Dad

Today is my father's birthday (can you believe next year he'll be 40?!). And I wanted to say how much I appreciate him and everything he does.
  • He is an amazing pastor
  • He is a phenomenal Dad
  • He is always always there if I ever need to talk
  • He is caring
  • He is hilarious
  • He is probably the best Kraft Dinner maker ever
  • He always encourages me and my brothers
  • He gave me spankings (Thank the Lord!)
  • I am so glad that he is my father and that I am his daughter (Father-Daughter!)
  • He is always there to give me a hug
  • He cares so much about Gods plan for me
  • He seems to remember everything that he ever learned in school and helps me with my homework if I am not getting it
My Dad is so amazing. I love him loads. These are only a few of the amazing things about my dad. Happy Birthday Dad. I love you!!
P.S. If I could get my dad ANYTHING in the world it definitely would be the Handy Dandy Clicker! Read the following in a classic commercial/peppy voice.
"Are you stressed out with the infinite spelling errors and powerpoint problems at your church? Do you get fed up with having problems occurring on stage? Well, if so, you need the Handy Dandy Clicker! This amazing device can solve all of your problems, AND MORE. Say you see on the screen the word "Holy" being spelt "holey," simply take the lazer at the top of the clicker and scan over the word. On the Handy Dandy Keyboard, quickly type the proper spelling and click! Problem solved. Another great feature of the Handy Dandy Clicker, is that if powerpoint "can't make the point," the easy functioning clicker can go through the slides like nobody's business. It is simply is amazing. Also, this device can be used for texting! Simply type in the word-ical (not numerical) into the keyboard, and then text all you want! You can get this amazing device in all the stores with red roofs and plastic windows. Take a break, get the Handy Dandy Clicker!"

Now say/read in a very low and quick voice

"Handy Dandy Clicker is not responsible for any physical problems caused by the clicker, and can only be used in East Africa. Batteries not included."

Happy Birthday Dad I love you!

Emerson: What she said
Hudson: Happy Birthday Daddy What she said I love you

A-hem

RIGHT NOW:

I am lying in bed.
I am using my wonderful father's laptop
I am looking at my freshly groomed shih tzu Diva
I am tired

Well... today was good I guess.... it was formal day at school today and well.. I dressed more "formally" than I usually do! Some kids dressed up in my class. Only girls.. well except for Brody.
Me and Chels had to take pictures for yearbook, but it was really easy because they all were posed of course FORMAL DAY posed and everything. We had everybody (dressed formally) get arranged with the trees as the background so that the formal day page in the yearbook would look somewhat formal and well 'fancy' ? Anyways thats how it went down.

Just a little while ago I was sitting in the nursery with a whole bunch of other people babysitting one child. It was pretty fun.. I coloured 2 pictures which is something that I have not done in years.... ACTUALLY! I just did colouring like a few days ago for a map in school. Well actually that doesn't really count. Tonight I was colouring with CRAYONS. THAT is something I haven't done in years. So yeah. Tomorrow should be good, because we have a sub for Mr. Shuel, and she's pretty easy going so that will be nice.... and we have a sub for bible too. And ontop of that, Fridays are just easy anyways. Unless of course you are assigned hard work to do! But I am not really planning on that. Since I have nothing in particular to do right now I am going to change my blog background and such. Until next time.....

I am so bored right now!

Ok well, since I am stuck at home today with the slight chance of getting to talk to some people on facebook, and there really is nothing else to do, I will just blog for a while. At least that will keep me "not bored." So. My whole sickness career began on the way home from GU. We were halfway across the ocean and I started to feel feverish. On Sunday morning I woke up, still felt feverish and stayed home from church. Monday, I got, or felt more, sick I felt so bad in the morning I felt like I was going to fall down. But I still went to school. Tuesday, I went to school again, but by the end of the evening, I was feeling like a train wreck as big as the Titanic. Pretty much all of last night I was blowing my nose, but don't you hate it when you blow your nose, stuff comes out, but your nose is still as stuffy as it was before!? Yeah. I had that ALL last night. Once when I woke up in the night I went to the bathroom and discovered that I also had pink eye. Fabulous. So I woke up this morning, REALLY not wanting to go to school, but still wanting to so that I don't have to get homework. (I hate it). But I decided I would stay home, even though I only stayed in bed for another hour. So this is how wonderful my day has went so far....

After waking up and just hangning around, my Papa assigns me some homework which included a sereis of algebra equations, to write a 1/2 page long story (it turned out being 1 page) and to finish my science homework that I already had. So I did the things that he had assigned in about half an hour. But I still have one more science question that I need to do still. After doing that homework, I go to a different table to do some of my science, but then I blow my nose and boom! Blood starts flowing from one of my nostrils. Before I know it, blood starts flowing out of my other nostril. I think, 'No big deal, just a nose bleed'
Well folks, this nosebleed lasted for like 5 minutes and I was scared I was going to die because of all the blood that was coming out of me! My Papa phoned the doctor, they just said to see if it stops bleeing soon, if it doesn't, I don't know they said do something else. But my nose has been like a runny nose, except with light red blood, instead of normal runny nose. After a while, I kind of blew my nose again (I guess I must have done it to hard) and then blood started coming out of one nostril again! I thank the Lord! it only came out of one though. I was so scared. I was praying in tongues. Oh my gosh it was scary. Well, everything is alright now, but I still have the same runny nose blood thing.
Don't worry, I'll figure everything else out soon with all the template and header stuff

Bidet-An Amazing Device

This weekend, our leadership team headed down to Portland Oregeon for the youth conference Generation Unleashed. All of the girls on the team got to stay at this lovely house with the sweetest people that fed us well, and gave us the "at home" feeling. In this lovely house, there is a lovely bathroom. And inside this lovely bathroom, lives the bidet toilet. The discovery of it, went something like this.....

"One Friday morning, Mikayla and Mercedes needed to do their hair and go to the bathroom. Since the downstairs bathroom was being used, they decided to go upstairs. Once in the upstairs bathroom, Mikayla started doing her hair. But Mercedes had to go to the bathroom. Mercedes lifted up the toilet seat and sat down. To her surprise, the seat was heated! Then, Mikayla noticed a set of controls mounted on the wall. They then realized that this toilet must clean as well!"

All the girls found out about this contraption which led to trying it out too. When people were trying it out, they would wait a bit, and it wouldn't start so they would say "It's not coming" then, the bathroom would be filled with squeal of fear mixed with laughter. hahahahaha just thinking about it now I laugh.

it has been a while

It is time. I haven't blogged in more than 2 weeks I think... and I see that my hits have lowered a bit. But why wouldn't they? Why the heck would anybody come here if I haven't posted in more than 2 weeks! So I should probably update the world on what has been going on in my life lately. Well, pretty much the usual. Our Mexico Missions Trip is coming together really great. Some of the grrrreat things are...
  • Our dances, skits, and hv's are coming along very smoothly.
  • God is providing my funds like spreading wildfire... (What the heck!?)Just to clear this up, I didn't say what the heck because God providing is a bad thing, I said it because the whole wildfire thing was well... stupid I guess?
  • I am already (not that I haven't been for a while) excited like crazy!
Let's talk about education.

This semester, I have switched from Grade 8 Math - Grade 9 Science
 Grade 8 English - Grade 8 Socials
Crazy huh? I absolutely LOVE not having to do math, even though it it my "favourite" subject.

Ummmm tomorrow I am getting a haircut (not because you got one Chels, because my mom booked one for me) and I don't really know what to do with it... I know I need to do something differnt with my bangs and layers, but I don't want to take too much length off of this head o' mine.  Well, I kind of have to go to bed now. So hopefully I will be back soon this time!

HOLY COW...MEXICO?!?!

On Wednesday, I was informed that this year (and maybe this year only) the Mexico Missions Trip for grades 9-12, will be accompanied by another grade! Hmmmm! I wonder what grade that would be? Yeah baby! I am going to Mexico! They finally came to the decision of taking the Grade 8's along for the ride. I am so excited, I can't even believe it! OH MY GOSH. Another thing that is making me pretty excited, is that on Tuesday,
my neon purple Message Remix 2.0 bible was shipped! I am so excited for that to, but I hope it gets here before I have to head off to Generation Unleashed! Speaking of GU, I am pretty excited for that too! Wow. I have a lot of things going for me!

Start of a Cold?

This morning I woke up having a sore throat and a stuffy nose.... and during the day, my glands started to hurt. My nose is to this moment stuffy, except for when I temporarily have relief from Vicks VapoRub. The stuff is magic I tell ya. Well, hopefully this "little cold" goes away before the .....YOUTH RETREAT!!! I am so excited I can't even begin to explain it! It is going to be such an awesome weekend. Hopefully this time, I keep my mouth shut in my sleep! lol. Talk to me later if you, you know, want to know the whole story... what the heck, I might as well tell you all now.... Okay, well anyway, I am sure most of you know that the staff retreat for Northgate was at Camp Homewood this year, and the staff's families got to come this time. So anyway, I was asleep in our room, and my mother wasn't quite asleep yet, and then she heard me say, "Look at his amazing...... horse moves!" so now... apparently I love cowboys! hahahaha

Homewood 2/3

Tomorrow morning my family and I, and the rest of the staff clan, are heading out to Camp Homewood for the staff retreat. I am looking forward to it, I think it will be amazing. Oh the joys of Homewood... someone makes the food for you, does the dishes for you, and does pretty much everything for you so that you can enjoy your stay to the fullest. (Hahahaha I feel like some under cover advertisement system for Homewood) Today is our second time having one service! I really like this because it gives me (and a whole bunch of other people) able to have the privilege of sleeping in till 8'o clock in the morning! That right there, is a very good reason to start having a Saturday night service. Well, I do have other good reasons, but that seems to be a very good one in my eyes :D.
